About this publication

A Women’s Magazine.
With Money in the Conversation.

Culture, beauty, relationships, work and the cost of living through all of it. Curious, candid and grounded in the realities of being a woman in America.

Life rarely fits into one category. A date becomes a conversation about splitting the bill. A beauty trend becomes a question about monthly upkeep. A promotion, a breakup, a rent increase, a headline: life and money keep showing up together. That is where Hotgirlindebt begins.

Hotgirlindebt is a women’s culture and money publication for life in America now. Think magazine curiosity, a sharp older-sister voice, and room for the parts that do not fit into a tidy checklist. You can care about your lipstick and your interest rate. You can want a beautiful life without pretending everyone has the same choices.

✦ The editorial point of view
Take women seriously. Take the numbers seriously. Leave room for a little fun.

The Conversation

  • Culture & Everyday Life The stories, internet conversations and shifting expectations that spill into friendships, relationships and everyday life.
  • Money & Power Debt, pay, housing, work, financial independence and the policies that shape our choices.
  • Beauty & The Budget Personal style, the cost of upkeep, thoughtful shopping and when the thing you already own is enough.
  • Work, Life & Useful Tech Careers, time, organization and tools that solve a real problem, including the free option.

Context Before Hot Takes

A viral post can start a question. It cannot establish a fact about all women. Our editorial approach is to look for the original source, explain what is known and what is uncertain, and distinguish reporting from opinion. A news article should make clear when an event happened, when the piece was published, and when substantive information changed.

There is no single experience of being a woman in America. Income, race, disability, sexuality, family responsibilities, age and location affect what is possible. Advice needs to leave room for those differences. A money angle belongs where it helps explain a story—not where it turns someone’s experience into a shopping opportunity.

Shopping With A Point

Some articles contain affiliate links, which can earn this publication a commission on eligible purchases. Those relationships must be disclosed. Useful comparisons should explain the price, recurring costs, drawbacks, who a product suits and when a free alternative is enough. An affiliate relationship does not make a product right for every reader.

Product research is not the same as hands-on testing. We identify what was actually checked, and do not invent testing, credentials or personal experiences. Money explainers are general education; readers’ circumstances and eligibility vary.
